Tome Raiders

Tired of the same old bestsellers? Craving books that surprise, challenge, and expand your mind? The Tome Raiders Book Club is your passport to the strange, fascinating, and overlooked corners of nonfiction. From the origin of medical discoveries to untold histories and mind-bending science, we hunt down and engage with the most intriguing reads.

Join us as we delve into the broad and weird world of nonfiction every 3rd Wednesday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, we dive into a nonfiction book, from the reclusive mountains of Idaho in Tara Westover's Educated to the sprawling historical true crime journey of The Wager by David Grann.

Step into Jazz in the Hill: Nightlife and Narratives of a Pittsburgh Neighborhood by Colter Harper and into the smoky clubs and vibrant streets of Pittsburgh's historic Hill District, where jazz was more than just music—it was the heartbeat of a community. This book intertwines the electrifying tales of nightlife with the deeper narratives of resilience, change, and identity. Join us as we explore the era when every note told a story and every corner held a secret.

Also consider seeing the author, Colter Harper, when he visits Cooper-Siegel on November 8! Event information and sign up is FREE and HERE.

This event occurs after the library is closed so please park in the front lot and use the front doors—they will be locked but Cameron will be inside to let you in. There will be light refreshments available.

Copies will be available for you at Cooper-Siegel's Front Desk after October's meeting! Unfortunately, since this is a local interest book, there are no ebook or audiobook copies on Libby or Hoopla.
