Cooks and Books
Join your fellow cookbook-obsessed-peeps as we read, cook, chat and EAT! We'll meet once a month on the 2nd Thursday from 7-9 PM. Each month, we'll read the same cook book or choose a common ingredient or cuisine. We'll each cook something to share and gather to eat and talk!
Small plates, big flavor! Taking inspiration from tapas, we'll try and find out how much big flavor we can fit on a small plate. You mission this month, craft the perfect bite! Tapas are small, savory dishes served as appetizers or snacks in Spanish cuisine. They can range from simple olives or cheese to elaborate preparations like grilled octopus or slow-cooked meats. "Tapa" in Spanish means “lid” or “cover and they are not just food—they're a social ritual in Spain. The act of sharing small dishes, standing at the bar, and chatting is central to Spanish life.
We'll cook from one of these cookbooks:
- Eat Small Plates by Ben Siman-Tov
- From Tapas to Meze: First Courses From the Mediterranean Shores of Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, and North Africa by Joanne Weir
- The Complete Small Plates Cookbook: 300+ Shareable Tapas, Meze, Bar Snacks, Dumplings, Salads, and More
- The Book of Pintxos Discover the Legendary Small Bites of Basque Country by Marti Buckley
- Vegan Finger Foods More Than 100 Crowd-pleasing Recipes for Bite-size Eats Everyone Will Love by Celine Steen
