Computer Animation Camp - Advanced
Join Prof. Chris Wilmer, who teaches scientific visualization at the University of Pittsburgh and is a Fox Chapel area resident, for this fun, week-long half-day summer camp, from 1pm-4pm, July 22nd through 26th, 2024. (Recommended ages: 12-16, see chart below)
In this class, students will learn how to model complex shapes and dive into more advanced animation concepts (e.g., applying constraints to animate complex machinery and rigging for animating characters). We will also go over the basics of shading/texturing/rendering and how to use the video editor to combine music & sound effects. Students will get to work on an animation of their own choosing throughout the week and share it with everyone at the end of the last day (with popcorn!).
We recommend bringing your own Windows/Mac/Linux laptop and make sure Blender 3.0 or higher is installed before the start of class. You can download it here for free (link). Please note that iPads and/or Chromebooks will NOT work for this class.
We will have some computers available if you do not have access to a laptop, but these will be limited.
