Join certified person trainer, Tom Capriotti for a 1-hour somatics session. Somatics engages the nervous system in an active learning process that consists of slow, focused, intentional movements. Somatics teaches the nervous system how to release chronic muscle tension, loosening joints, and relieving tightness. Somatics also explores how the body holds and expresses painful experiences, applying mind-body healing to aid with trauma recovery.
This class requires the ability to get up and down from the floor without assistance. Please bring a yoga mat and a water bottle. Wear loose comfortable clothing.
Tom's interest in somatics started about 25 years ago during a yoga class. He was experiencing lower back pain and during the class, the guru introduced somatic movements and he felt immediate relief. Since then he's been very passionate about somatics. This movement is based on sensory-motor amnesia; during our lifetime through trauma, stress, or body position, some muscles stop working properly and somatics can return your body to freer movement.
