Tome Raiders
Tired of the same old bestsellers? Craving books that surprise, challenge, and expand your mind? The Tome Raiders Book Club is your passport to the strange, fascinating, and overlooked corners of nonfiction. From the origin of medical discoveries to untold histories and mind-bending science, we hunt down and engage with the most intriguing reads.
Join us as we delve into the broad and weird world of nonfiction every 3rd Wednesday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, we dive into a nonfiction book, from the reclusive mountains of Idaho in Tara Westover's Educated to the sprawling historical true crime journey of The Wager by David Grann.
Joy Harjo, the first Native American to serve as U.S. poet laureate, invites us in Poet Warrior (2021) to travel along the heartaches, losses, and humble realizations of her "poet-warrior" road. A musical, kaleidoscopic, and wise follow-up to Crazy Brave, Poet Warrior reveals how Harjo came to write poetry of compassion and healing, poetry with the power to unearth the truth and demand justice.
