Computer Animation Camp - Beginner

Join Prof. Chris Wilmer, who teaches scientific visualization at the University of Pittsburgh and is a Fox Chapel area resident, for this fun, week-long half-day summer camp, from 1pm-4pm, July 15th through 19th, 2024. (Recommended ages: 7-11, see chart below)

Students will learn the basics of using Blender to model basic 3d shapes and create animations that can be shared with family. Fun activities will include using physics simulations to animate collapsing buildings and designing (cute) monster characters that students can 3d print and bring home. No prior experience needed, but if you attended past animation camps or have Blender experience, there is a more advanced camp offered the following week (see chart below). Beginner students are welcome to sign up for both classes.

We recommend bringing your own Windows/Mac/Linux laptop and make sure Blender 3.0 or higher is installed before the start of class. You can download it here for free (link).  Please note that iPads and/or Chromebooks will NOT work for this class.

We will have some computers available if you do not have access to a laptop, but these will be limited.

For additional information please contact Chris at c.wilmer@gmail.com
