Aging is a blessing that is not afforded to everyone. With aging come challenges of changing body systems that affect our mobility (how we move). Can “normal” aging mobility be altered/changed/challenged?! YES it can! Come learn about some of the changes that occur with age and about the importance of physical activity to train for your tomorrow. Dr. Criss and Dr. Riddle will also discuss research regarding earlier detection of mobility changes and invite you to participate in helping us discover optimal mobility assessment for a better tomorrow.


Michelle (Missy) Criss, PT, DPT, PhD, GCS; Associate Professor at Chatham University. Dr. Criss has 30 years’ experience as a physical therapist and is a board-certified specialist in geriatrics. She teaches in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Chatham University and also serves as the Assistant Director of Curriculum. She serves her community and profession as a mentor in the UPMC Rehab Institute’s Geriatric Physical Therapy Residency Program, member of the Annual Mobility Screen Task Force, board member of PA Geriatrics Society-Western Division, Woodland Hills High School musical costume room. Missy has research interests in tests and measure use in older adults and intergenerational living arrangements and their effects on both younger and older residents.

Gordon Riddle, PT, DPT, ATC, OCS, CSCS is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Chatham University and the owner of Square One Physical Therapy. Dr. Riddle is also a board-certified orthopedic specialist, an athletic trainer, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Gordon teaches in the clinical sciences and musculoskeletal physical therapy courses. His interests are in workplace ergonomics, assisting older adults age in place, and working with active individuals.
