Event Details
Enjoy some great live music with some historic information provided about each piece during this Jazz Appreciation Month! This show honors Pittsburgh giants of jazz and their music! Musicians from Pittsburgh have dominated the jazz world over many years. Some have left Pittsburgh and moved to larger markets, others have remained in Pittsburgh. This show salutes their accomplishments as well as their music.
Ron Bickel is an adjunct music professor at Duquesne University. The Merrymakers play what we call "happy music" --- traditional jazz (Dixieland and Benny Goodman style jazz) as well as some more current styles. While people who love jazz love this group; even better, people who don't love jazz are also very enthusiastic about our music. This lively music is infectious to audiences of all ages. They have been together for 19 years with the same personnel. We are sure you will hear the difference--- first class all the way.
This program is generously sponsored by the Music Performer Trust Fund.
