Join us for the closing reception of Painting Local: Paintings by James Hamm during the December First Friday. James will be onsite to discuss his art and process. A portion of art sales (25% per piece sold) directly benefit the library.
Over the past few years, local artist James Hamm has focused on painting local scenes en plein air or from photos taken in the Pittsburgh region and Western Pennsylvania area. These areas are important to him and provide endless inspiration.
James is a self-taught artist painting in watercolor, gouache, acrylics, and oil. He and his family live in the Fox Chapel Area School District and are originally from Wheeling, WV. His creative influences include his family, his local community, and the environment. He has had an interest in art since he was a kid, influenced by his father’s oil and acrylic paintings that are now scattered throughout their large family. One of his goals in creating art is to encourage others to pick up a brush or pencil, and create their own art.
Painting Local: Paintings by James Hamm will be on view daily through 12/6 and feature 18 paintings.
