Debbie Leuchter Stueber was born and raised on Long Island and majored in elementary education at the State University of Oneonta, NY. She moved to Pittsburgh in 1991 and now calls it her hometown. Shortly thereafter, she met Linda Hurwitz, the former Holocaust Center Director of Pittsburgh and has been a volunteer there for the past 20 plus years. This past year, she was chosen as their Volunteer of the Year.
Debbie is a senior customer service representative for a local electronics manufacturer. She’s married and has 3 grown sons and her parents are 93 and 94 and live in Boynton Beach, Florida. Telling her parents' Holocaust experience to schools, universities and various organizations for the last several years has been her passion. She feels strongly that it's the responsibility of her generation and generations to come to carry on the survivors' legacy. Telling her parents’ story is one of her passions in life, the other being craft beer; if you get her started, she could talk about that for hours as well!
