Event Details
Pittsburgh author David Rullo will discuss his book Gen X Pittsburgh: The Beehive and the 90s Scene. The conversation will focus on the impact of the iconic 90s coffeehouse located in Pittsburgh's South Side and Oakland neighborhoods and it's position in the city's artistic community, as it sought to break from its post-industrial morass.
Author David Rullo is an award-winning journalist and a senior staff writer at the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle. His work has appeared in national and international newspapers, magazines and literary journals. He has spent the better part of three decades exploring and contributing to the city's art and literary scene. Rullo's work has been exhibited and heard in Pittsburgh's cultural district, and his bands Digital Buddha, Architects of the Atmosphere and Centrale Electrique have explored the boundaries between electronic music, spoken word, performance art and experimental music. Rullo's collection of poetry, "Tired Scenes from a City Window," was published in 2015. "Gen X Pittsburgh: The Beehive and the 90s Scene" is his first work of non-fiction and was an Amazon best seller. David is a Pittsburgh native, and he lives in the city's South Hills.
