Community Ink: Local Author Series

This community-focused series is designed to spotlight and celebrate the literary talent of Western Pennsylvania. This platform creates space for local authors to share their work, discuss their creative process, and connect directly with readers. These events feature book readings, lectures, signings, and Q&A sessions, fostering an intimate and interactive atmosphere. We've hosted authors like Marie Benedict, Brooke Barker and Boaz Frankel, Andy McPhee, and Clare Beams to name a few.

Our hope with Community Ink is to strengthen ties between authors and their local audience; showcase writers across genres, from fiction and poetry to memoirs and academic works; offer insights into the writing process, publishing journey, and the power of storytelling while providing visibility and encouragement for authors to thrive within their community.

Join local author Larry Burk as he discusses his book Let Magic Happen: Adventures in Healing with a Holistic Radiologist. Discover more about Larry's adventure from academic medicine and radiology to holistic medicine and parapsychology. His book features the early development of musculoskeletal MRI and 3D CT, and the founding of the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine and the American Board of Scientific Medical Intuition, as well as alternative cancer diagnosis and treatment, and guidance through dreams and shamanic journeying.

Larry Burk, MD, CEHP, is a retired holistic musculoskeletal radiologist who now works as an online health coach and Certified Energy Health Practitioner. He graduated from Fox Chapel High School in 1973 and finished his medical school and radiology residency training at the University of Pittsburgh in 1985.   Dr. Burk is a former Duke University associate professor of radiology and co-founded Duke Integrative Medicine in 1998.  As a health coach, he began facilitating mind-body-spirit healing for clients in 2000 with acupuncture and hypnosis and gradually transitioned to EFT tapping and dreamwork on Zoom in 2019.  He has published two other books, Dreams that Can Save Your Life: Early Warning Signs of Cancer and Other Diseases in 2018 and Frozen Shoulder Healing: Diagnostic Methods and Treatment Options in 2025.
