Curiosity Cabaret

Join us for Curiosity Cabaret, Cooper-Siegel Community Library’s Grown-Up Show & Tell! Ten presenters will get ten minutes each to showcase a PowerPoint presentation on the Coolest Thing They've Ever Done!

For Presenters: 

 If you’d like to be one of our presenters, email your presentation (either as pptx or as a Google Slides file) to csclinfoserv@coopersiegelcommunitylibrary.org and complete the presenter survey, no later than Thursday, August 28th, the Thursday before the event. Please put the Event Title, Presentation Date, and Your Name in the email subject line. Chosen presenters will be notified by email on Monday September 1st. If all presenter slots are filled and yours wasn’t picked, don't worry! We’ll put you on our Understudy list for the next time we host a similar theme, and you’ll get first dibs! Even if your presentation isn’t selected, please come and cheer on the other presenters! 

All presentations are subject to final selection by Library Staff. Please remember that this event is attended by other members of your community, so keep kindness and courtesy in mind while you design your presentation. Absolutely no derogatory language or images, hate speech, or inflammatory language (some well-placed swearing is fine). Basically, if you wouldn’t want your Grandma to hear it, don’t put it in your presentation!  

Tips for Presenters: 

Please be respectful of the other presenters’ time when designing your PowerPoint! The recommended slide count is one slide per minute, and the average ten-minute speech is roughly 1300 words if you typed it all out. Time goes by quickly, so be sure to practice!  

Let the Creative juices flow! We’d love to see colorful and engaging slides, so feel free to use pictures, graphics, and that fun slide transition you’ve always wanted to try. 

For Audience Members: 

Come cheer our presenters on! You might learn something new, try something old, or see the world through a new perspective! Please be kind and courteous to your wonderful presenters and avoid any unnecessary conversation or heckling during their presentations. Loud hoots, hollers, cheers, and claps once each presenter completes their presentation are always welcome.
