Program Description

Event Details

Invasive species are having major impacts on our local ecosystems and the native species that are trying to quickly adapt to survive their introduction. The topic of invasive species is complex but also fascinating. Join the Allegheny County Park Rangers as we discuss what makes a species “invasive”, how these species arrived in our area, the harms they cause when established, and what we can do to help.

This program is presented by the Allegheny County Park Rangers, the ambassadors of the Allegheny County Parks System. Park Rangers offer educational and interpretive programming as well as outreach programming to local schools and communities. They also provide park visitors with orientation and information while ensuring park regulations are being followed. Park Rangers represent the ideas of conservation and stewardship of natural, cultural, and recreational resources within the Allegheny County Parks system.

Library parking is limited. If the library lot is full, we recommend parking at the 13th Street municipal lot. We're also conveniently located on the 91 and 1 bus routes.
